My Padi (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information when you use the My Padi mobile application or any associated website (collectively, the “Platform”).

By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Full name, phone number, and email address during registration.
  • Profile photo and government-issued ID (for provider verification).
  • Home address (for providers undergoing physical audit).
  • Payment information (processed securely via third-party payment providers).
  • Messages and communications sent through the in-app chat.

Information collected automatically:

  • Device information (model, OS version, unique device identifiers).
  • Location data (GPS coordinates when using active order tracking features).
  • Usage data (features accessed, time spent, error logs).
  • IP address and network information.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Match clients with appropriate service providers.
  • Process payments and manage the escrow system.
  • Enable real-time order tracking and in-app communication.
  • Verify the identity and residence of service providers.
  • Resolve disputes between clients and providers.
  • Send transactional notifications (order updates, payment confirmations).
  • Improve the Platform through analysis of usage patterns.
  • Comply with legal obligations under Cameroonian law.

3. Location Data

For active orders, we collect precise GPS location data from service providers to display real-time tracking to clients. Location data is only collected while an order is active and the provider is using the app. You may disable location permissions in your device settings, but this will limit core functionality of the Platform.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in the following circumstances:

  • Between users: Clients can see a provider's name, photo, rating, and real-time location during an active order. Providers can see a client's name and order details.
  • Payment processors: We share necessary transaction data with MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money, Fapshi, and banking partners to process payments.
  • Service providers: We use third-party services for cloud hosting, analytics, and push notifications. These partners are contractually bound to protect your data.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your data if required by law, court order, or governmental authority in Cameroon.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform's services. If you delete your account, we will erase your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g., transaction records for tax and compliance purposes, which may be kept for up to 5 years).

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted storage of sensitive data, and role-based access controls. However, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to contact us immediately if you suspect a breach of your account.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Withdraw consent for data processing where consent is the basis.
  • Lodge a complaint with a relevant data protection authority.

8. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will delete that account immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date and notify you via the app or email. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
