My Padi Guide · Module 1 of 7
Your account, your role, and getting verified
My Padi is one app with four kinds of users. This module explains how to create an account, what each role can do, and how identity verification works before you can start earning.
What is My Padi?#
My Padi is a local services and food-delivery marketplace. Clients hire nearby providers for everyday services (shopping, cleaning, moving, driving), order food from local restaurants, and pay safely through an in-app wallet backed by mobile money (MTN MoMo and Orange Money). All prices are in FCFA (XAF).
Two ideas run through everything in the app:
- Escrow. When you pay for a service or food order, your money is held by My Padi, not sent to the other person. It is only released when the work is confirmed done. If things fall through, it comes back to your wallet.
- Timers. Every stage of an order has a time limit: accepting, negotiating, paying, preparing, delivering. If a timer runs out, the app resolves the order automatically and refunds whoever is owed money. Full details in Module 4.
The four roles#
You choose your role right after signing up. Each role gets its own home screen, dashboard, and analytics, but they all share the same wallet, chat, notifications, and support systems.
Signing up#
- Create an account with email + password, or continue with Google.
- Verify your email: a confirmation is sent to your inbox.
- Accept the terms: Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and EULA are shown in-app and can be reread anytime from your profile.
- Pick your role and complete that role’s setup (below).
Forgot your password? Use Forgot password on the login screen to get a reset link. If you signed up with Google and later need a password, the support team can set one for you.
Client setup#
Clients only fill in a short profile: name, photo, and location. After that you land on the home screen where you can browse services, restaurants, and providers near you. You can edit your profile, manage payment methods, and set a wallet PIN (needed for withdrawals) from the Profile tab.
Service provider setup#
- Profile: name, photo, bio, and location.
- Choose your services: the services you offer (shopper, cleaner, mover, driver, and so on). Clients find you under these categories.
- Shopping limit (shoppers only): the maximum order value you’re allowed to handle. You can raise your limit yourself anytime from the app.
- Identity verification: see below.
Identity verification
Before a provider or handler can take jobs, the My Padi team verifies who they are. You’ll be asked for:
- National ID: a photo of the front and back, taken live with your camera (gallery uploads are not accepted).
- Selfie with ID: a selfie holding your National ID next to your face.
- Driver’s licence and vehicle photos: only if your services include driving or moving.
After submitting you’ll see a verification pending screen. The team reviews your documents and either approves them or asks you to resubmit. You’ll get a notification either way, and your dashboard shows a verified badge once approved.
Live capture proves the document is physically in your hands. It keeps fake profiles out, which protects your own ratings and earnings from unfair competition.
Handler (rider) setup#
Handlers go through the same identity verification as providers, plus vehicle details (bicycle, motorcycle, car, or on foot). Two extra things matter for handlers:
- Availability status. You switch between available and offline, and the app sets on delivery automatically while you carry an order.
- Wallet balance. Accepting a delivery locks a security deposit equal to the order’s value from your wallet. You need enough balance before you can accept work (see Module 3 for how deposits work).
Restaurant setup#
- Restaurant profile: name, logo, photos, location, opening status.
- Delivery choice: deliver with your own drivers (self delivery) or let My Padi handlers deliver for you. You can also keep a roster of trusted drivers who follow your restaurant and assign them orders directly.
- Menu: items with prices, photos, categories, availability, and preparation time. The preparation time you set becomes the countdown the client sees while you cook.
- Verification: same identity check as other earning roles.
Each morning the app can remind you to update your menu and open the restaurant so clients see accurate availability.
Everyday app features#
- Live tracking. Active orders show a live map with the provider’s or rider’s position. Tap the expand button for a full-screen map, or hand off to Google Maps for voice navigation.
- Live Activity (iOS). Active orders appear on your lock screen and Dynamic Island with live status.
- Notifications. Every status change (acceptance, payment, timers, cancellations, deliveries) arrives as a push notification and in the in-app notification list.
- Chat. Every order has a built-in chat with the other party; support has its own chat (Module 6).
- Dark mode follows your phone’s theme, and a first-run tutorial highlights each part of your home screen.
